          “Always With Honor”

                                                Sept 2007

CC corner:
As with every September these past 6 years, I’m reminded how the world changed on that fateful day, and how the Air Force is still changing with it. We’re still in for the long war, and the Knights have been right there in the heart of it. This quarter marked the return from Iraq of three past and present Knights, as well as the deployment of two more. I couldn’t be more proud of the work our squadron is doing both on the home front preparing the next generation of officers, and on the front lines doing the same for the newly formed Iraqi Air Force.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t offer some other thank-you’s as well. First of all, thanks to all the spouses and family members who’ve had to put up with the extremely high ops tempo and personnel challenges the Air Force has thrown us this past 6 months. We couldn’t do it without you. Last, I need to send out many thanks to George S. for the great work he has done over the past year as the 24th’s Director of Operations, and his prior years at OTS. George has worked countless thankless hours, days, nights, and weekends, ensuring the 24th operations ran expertly and efficiently. I couldn’t have asked for a better DO to help us through this incredibly turbulent year. Thanks again Jorge for all you did – three weeks ‘til you can that cell phone and get some sleep.

Denise's corner:
I’d like to thank Jennifer S. for her outstanding support of the Squadron this past year. From her concept, design, and sales efforts of the T-shirts, to her expert advice on the Commander’s Spouses Panels, dining outs, and beyond, Jenn has kept me laughing through it all. Now that George is off to a contracting position at Gunter, hopefully she will have more time with her husband and fewer midnight phone calls. Hans and I wish George and Jenn and their family much happiness and success in the coming years.

“Thank you” to Jennifer S, Robbyn R, and Jennifer C for taking time out of their day to help sell T-shirt's during August’s COT and BOT graduation festivities. We sold $790 of T-shirts in just a few short hours over two Thursdays. More volunteers are needed to help sell for the September 20th combined COT/BOT awards ceremony, a double-header event where we should be able to sell lots of shirts to raise funds for the children’s holiday party. Another 100 shirts have just been ordered. Please call Denise to volunteer for selling hour(s) between 10 am - 3:30 pm.
