7 Dec Maxwell/16 Nov, 21 Dec Gunter- CDC & YS- Parents Night Out/Give Parents a Break, 6 to 11 PM- To be eligible for the Give Parents a Break one must be referred by Base Official such as SQ/CC, First Shirt, Chaplain, Dr, FSC, etc. This program is for those parents in stressful situations due to; deployments, remote tours of duty, extended working hours, etc. Parents Night Out is $20 for 4 hrs of care. Both programs require reservations one week in advance. Immunization records or proof of enrollment in school are required and all paper must be completed before children can start program.

Annually during Military Family Month, The Youth Centers also sponsor a Poster and Essay Contest. “How the Military has Affected My Life” is the theme for the poster and essay contest. It is open from Nov. 1 – 15 for youth in grades kindergarten through 12th grade. Essays are limited to 250 words in length and posters are limited in size to 12 x 18 inches. Categories are Kindergarten – 3rd grade; 4th – 6th grade, 7th – 9th grade and 10th – 12th grade. Awards will be given in each entry category. Posters and Essays must be received by Nov. 15 at the centers. The following information must be included on the back of each entry – name, grade and age; parent’s name, home address and phone number; sponsor’s rank and service affiliation; and parent’s work phone number and email. The Maxwell and Gunter Youth Centers offer a variety.
Youth Center Bike Club for ages 13 to 17 is starting. One Saturday each month there will be a bike ride from two to five K. Interested youth must sign up in advance. For more information, call 953-6292

16 Nov- Last day to submit art and templates to the Airman and Family Readiness Center. In celebration of National Military Family Month, the Maxwell-Gunter Airman and Family Readiness Center announced an art contest. The theme, “My Military Family,” is for all military children,

Family Promise of Montgomery is a non-profit that houses, feeds, and provides transportation for homeless working families. WHO IS COOKING? We'll have 13 companies cooking ribs, chicken and Boston butts trying to win 1st place trophies in each category called HOGS & HENS cook off.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? Come in the morning and help set up...come during the event and help with the sign in, raffle, concessions...come after 8:00 and help with the take down....we can use any help, any time of day.

Deployments made easier
Make deployments easier, before you deploy, make sure family members are provided with correct information and documentation needed for Commissary shopping. Agent Cards can be acquired through Pass and ID located by the Kelley Street Gate.
42D Mission Support Squadron (42 MSS) Military Personnel Flight (MPF)
Starting Monday, 5 Nov 07, construction at Bell Street gate will impede traffic flow onto Maxwell AFB until further notice. The new traffic flow will be clearly marked but expect delays. Base officials are advising people to leave about 10 minutes early to ensure enough time to get through the gate.
ID CARD APPOINTMENT PROCESS: The Military Personnel Flight (MPF) has implemented two changes to enhance Customer Service. First, in addition to walk-in service for issuing CAC/ID cards, there is an added appointment system Monday through Friday. Customers are highly encouraged to use this service to minimize their wait time. Appointments are available from 0730 – 1600 (Monday through Thursday) and from 0730 – 1200 on Friday. Secondly, Friday afternoons are reserved for appointment only (no walk-ins). This policy applies to the entire service population (active duty, civilians, contractors, retirees, etc.). 11 Nov- Birmingham zoo- military only free day and as always military personnel and their dependents get discounted admission with valid military id on any day of the week except Tuesdays, which are known as half price Tuesdays throughout the year.
